Randy and Rhonda Shotts are former division I Grand Champions, retired Masters Division competitors, and have been the directors of the Portland Dance Festival since 1998. They are active members of the UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) where Randy has most recently been named the new Director for the World Championships event (beginning with Worlds 2013 in Nashville).
Prior to moving to the Northwest, Randy was a Procurement Manager at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo, California. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Long Beach State University. He began teaching Country Western and Swing dancing in 1991 and from 1993 until 2003 taught dancing full time. In the fall of 2003, Randy retired from teaching in exchange for selling Real Estate. He and his business partner opened Cornerstone Properties NW in the Spring of 2006 and Randy continues to be an integral part in all of its business operations. Real Estate has turned out to be a rewarding and challenging career—one in which he excels at and truly enjoys. In addition, he is also a licensed tax preparer and works for Newberg Tax Services during the very busy tax season.
Rhonda is a former Administrative Secretary and holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Home Economics. She currently works part time as the office manager for a local chiropractor and serves as the Chairman of UCWDC Ethics Committee.
They have two children, Matthew 26 and Emily 19. Matthew and his wife Quanah live nearby and both work for Fred Meyer. Quanah joined Emily this year at Portland State University to continue her education. Emily is a sophomore at Portland State University majoring in business and has a part time job at the mall as the Assistant Manager at Icing. She continues to dance every chance she can get, practices regularly with a swing partner in hopes of competing on the swing circuit, and attends dance events whenever her schedule allows.
